For 47 Years, Mario Maiolo has presented and promoted local, interstate, and international musical tours across multiple genres within Australia and beyond. He was the sole founder of the successful Adelaide music agency Vegas Promotions.
Under Mario’s guidance Vegas Promotions became one of the top music agencies in SA. After 10 years He then Sold Vegas Promotions and established Mario Maiolo Promotions Pty Ltd (MMP) as an independent International Concert Promoter.
MMP is committed to booking local, Interstate, and overseas attractions at the highest level.
MMP has presented multiple international headliners over 31 years in including legendary acts such as Andrea Bocelli, Bluesman B.B. King, Kenny Rogers, Wilson Pickett, Blondie, Jerry Lewis, KISS, Meat Loaf, The Rock Symphony starring Paul Rogers, Roger Daltrey, Alice Cooper, Dionne Warwick and Peter Frampton, Petula Clark and the 80-piece Welch choir just to mention a few.
On an interstate level Mario has promoted many Artists such as Alison Durban, Guy Sebastian, Barry Crocker, John English, Marcia Hines, Normie Rowe, Johnny Young, Ronnie Burns, Leo Sawyer, Little Pattie ,Bev Harrel Russel Morris ,Collen Hewitt ,Julie Anthony, Jim Keays( The Masters Apprentices) Glenn Shorrock and too many more to mention.
Throughout his career, Mario has played a supportive and creative role in musical theatre, Cabaret and concerts. turning multiple smaller shows into major drawcards, performing to full houses in prestigious venues all over Australia & New Zealand.
As the sole promoter, he took Manpower Australia to the famous Stardust Hotel/Casino on the Las Vegas strip for 5 years where Manpower performed up to six shows a week for 2 months at a time. He also staged and promoted multiple successful shows in Los Angeles and Honolulu on the way through to LV. And then six years later he returned to Las Vegas to the Stardust’s Wayne Newton Theatre to debut Australian Pop Star and TV host, John St Peeters.
Mario brought American Swing back to Australia, first with a show he personally packaged and named, A Celebration of Swing, which performed to sell-out houses in 2000 capacity theatres and the Sydney Entertainment which drew 5,000 patrons.
Mario has just recently mounted bi-annual tours of the all-American Big Band production, IN THE MOOD, with more than 40 dates each run throughout NZ and Australia, which have also been highly successful and over four tours in eight years attracting 120,000 people. Under Mario’s guidance, the American production of Elvis to the Max grew from playing small 200–500 capacity rooms to venues holding up to 2,500 seats and sold-out multiple tours with the first run selling out 90/ 95 shows nationally. In Adelaide alone the show sold out five straight shows to 9,000 people similar numbers were achieved in Perth a total of six successful tours were staged over 12 years.
He debuted and guided Australian multi awarded country singer Amber Joy Poulton’s Coal Miner’s Daughter show taking it from performing in small venues to all major theatres over Australia which toured for 2 highly successful years and Mario has shown full commitment to many other local shows.
Mario has created multiple concept concerts from Scratch – Legends of Rock which sold-out 85 percent of a ten-week season around Australia 70 shows were staged in total.
There was also Motown Magic which Mario named and promoted it sold out 25 consecutive shows in 1000-3000 seat theatres all over Australia in all the major theatres.
In 2015 and 2018, Mario produced the sell-out Country Gold show, a platform for local Adelaide talent to share the stage with seasoned country music artists, saluting global names with a three hour show and a set list of thirty-five 100% Gold hits. Country Gold is now a bi-annual concert. He was also the first promoter to introduce Classic Country Gold which he joined Country music Artists to perform with Symphony Orchestras nationally.
Mario took the Zep Boys who perform the music of Led Zeppelin from performing in clubs and hotels to another level with performances accompanied by multiple Symphony orchestras around Australia. He also nurtured Divine Divas, an Australian Burlesque show, taking them from small 150 capacity hotel shows to Australia’s largest venues such as the famous 2,400-seater Crown Perth Theatre.
For 25 years, Mario was acknowledged as South Australia’s premier Christmas event presenter, staging cabaret dinner shows for up to 12,000 patrons in multiple venues throughout December.
The complete entertainment package for the 2012 Rock the Boat 2 tour was co-ordinated by Mario and he brought 25 legends, including Chubby Checker and Normie Rowe, to the high seas, with a full cruise riding the waves in an extravaganza of Pop from the 50’s and 60’s.
Mario’s support and guidance to local artists is unsurpassed. He has contributed to the success of many local and interstate artists, venues, orchestras and music organisations.
Mario has Vision and the ability to look at a small show and turn them into a major attraction by rewriting scripts and where needed recasting the whole show that’s what he enjoys most – assisting with creation, marketing and production.
Mario has just recently instigated and assisted Caroline Lam and her committee in launching the new Adelaide Concert Orchestra which performed their first show at the Adelaide Festival Theatre last August for the concert Hot August Night which attracted a full house & was promoted by Mario. The New Adelaide Concert Orchestra will now be the second major Orchestra in Adelaide SA.
Mario Now specialises in producing his own shows which has been extremely successful.
